Nokia Explores MEC Applications for In-venue Mobile Services

Venue owners are looking to enhance that experience even more, through better mobile integration of way-finding and venue information, special access to content and augmented and virtual reality experiences. Nokia tested those concepts recently in a trial of applications for multi-access edge computing at the University of Notre Dame Compton family Ice Arena with Notre Dame’s Wireless Institute. The tests relied on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks to provide high-capacity, low-latency wireless coverage: Nokia small cells and Wi-Fi access points, with Nokia’s MEC platform and its AirFrame server hosting the applications.

Nokia Tests Next-Generation Wireless Applications for University of Notre Dame Stadium

Nokia, in collaboration with the Wireless Institute in the College of Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, has successfully tested applications based on Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC). This software platform delivers flexibility, scalability and efficiency to networks with multiple base stations in order to improve speed of access to data services in congested areas.

Chisum to present at 9th NATO Military Sensing Symposium in Canada

Professor Chisum will present, “Collaborative and Responsive Sensors for Low-cost Spectrum Sensing and Geolocation”.
