Dr. Nick Laneman Reappointed Director of the Wireless Institute

The Wireless Institute is pleased to announce the reappointment of Dr. Nick Laneman as Director, effective January 16, 2026.
Dr. Laneman founded the Wireless Institute in 2010 and has played a central role in shaping its vision, operations, and growth ever since. From 2016 to 2025, he served as Co-Director with Professor Bertrand Hochwald, helping to build the Institute into a collaborative hub advancing research in wireless systems, communications, and related technologies. Dr. Hochwald retired from the University at the end of 2025.
Going forward, Dr. Laneman will continue to lead the Institute’s mission of fostering impactful research advancing wireless technologies and radio spectrum policy, supporting faculty and student collaboration, and strengthening partnerships across academia, industry, and government. His longstanding leadership and deep commitment to the Institute position him well to guide its next chapter of growth.
The Wireless Institute looks forward to this exciting new phase under Dr. Laneman’s leadership and is grateful for his continued dedication to wireless research and education.
