Fay Leads Defense Multi-University Research Initiative (MURI)

CHRISTINE BROADBENT LANDAW

Fay’s project will develop electronic devices operating in the terahertz range. Terahertz waves are electromagnetic waves with frequencies higher than microwaves but lower than infrared radiation and visible light. They possess advantages for applications in communications and medical imaging, as well as security detection of chemical agents and weapons.

The Department of Defense awarded $191 million in grants through the MURI program this year covering 25 topics.
