Director, Sisters of the Holy Cross Archives and Records
Sister Catherine Osimo has been the Director of the Congregational Archives and Record of the Sisters ofthe Holy Cross since 2016 and the Congregation’s General Secretary since 2019. Her historical presentation will focus on Saint Mary’s campus and its part in the successful reception of the wireless transmission 125 years ago. In 1899, the Holy Cross sisters administered and staffed what was then Saint Mary’s Academy, and later Saint Mary’s College.
The Congregation still sponsors the College and is proud of its strong Science Department since the days of Sister M. Antonine (Farmer), CSC, who taught Physics and was a colleague of Rev. John Augustine Zahm, CSC, and Professor Jerome Green, Notre Dame. Sister Catherine’s first love was history, earning her bachelor’s In U.S. History at Saint Mary’s College.
An MA in Religious Studies from Mundelein College, Chicago, IL and Doctor of Ministry, from San Francisco Theological Seminary, San Anselmo, CA, focused her ministries in Catholic secondary education, youth ministry, adult formation, parish and diocesan ministry, and college teaching
