AWaRE REU Program is Accepting Applications

The Wireless Institute at the University of Notre Dame is currently accepting applications for the Advanced Wireless Research Experiences (AWaRE) REU, a 10-week summer undergraduate research program. AWaRE provides opportunities for undergraduate EE and CSE majors to experience hands-on innovative research alongside faculty, graduate students, and staff. Women and minority students are encouraged to apply. Participants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents. This Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). 

The AWaRE REU program offers 10 projects in wireless networking, robotics, UVA’s and mobile computing.

• Advanced Wireless Communications for Drone Swarms
• RadioHound: A Low-Cost Spectrum Sensor
• Software-Defined Antennas with Phase-Change Materials
• Radar Signal Processing and Data Analysis
• WiFi Leaf Detection System
• High Linearity GaN Transistors for Enhanced LNA Dynamic Range
• Characterizing Information Leakage in Low Power Wireless Modules
• Collaborative Intelligent Radio Systems for Congested Wireless Environments
• Human-Robot Collaboration
• Coordinated Robots Through Wireless Communication

Project highlights include:

• $5,000 stipend
• Free on-campus housing
• Weekly food allowance
• Round trip travel allowance
• State-of-the-art research facilities
• REU Symposium

Applications received by Monday, February 4, 2019, will be given first consideration. Notification of acceptance will be announced on Monday, February 25, 2019. The 10-week program runs May 20 – July 26, 2019.
