Description: Communication is a core competency and one of the foundational building blocks for where your career takes you. In this workshop, Dr. Valli Sarveswaran will share tips and tools for effective communications and professional etiquette. He will discuss the importance of presenting yourself well in a professional setting, whether in an email, a phone or video call, or an in-person encounter. He will cover best practices for using a calendar, networking, and informational interviews to stay organized and to increase your connections. He will then lead a discussion on the reasons why you chose to do research and how your research impacts society.
