Topic: Graduate School: What’s It Good For? And Should I Go?

Prof. J. Nicholas Laneman, Professor and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Dr. Nyrée McDonald, Associate Dean of Graduate Enrollment Management in The Graduate School, will answer the question that every undergraduate student should ask themselves: Should I go to grad school? The decision to pursue an advanced degree is one that should not be taken lightly. Advanced degrees are an investment in time, yet can open up additional career opportunities. This talk will discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of advanced degrees, the process of getting an advanced degree, and the graduate school experience. It will also cover the process of applying to graduate school, what schools look for, and how to make your application stand out.
