Wireless Institute I/UCRC Planning Workshop 10/9/13 – 10/11/13
The Wireless Institute (WI) will be hosting an industry workshop on the ND campus on October 9-11, 2013. For the past year and a half, WI faculty and staff have been reaching out across industry segments to identify market-relevant research projects and other opportunities for student training. We have been very encouraged by these discussions. As part of these efforts, we are leveraging frameworks and partial funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry / University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) program (http://www.nsf.gov/eng/iip/iucrc/).
We have received some initial funding for the planned workshop, and have an opportunity to join the new Broadband Wireless Access and Applications Center (BWAC, http://bwac.arizona.edu), a multi-university center led by the University of Arizona and including Auburn University, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
The industry workshop will provide an ideal venue for industry representatives and ND faculty and students to further align interests. Among other outcomes,
the exchange will help us develop a full proposal for a cooperative research
program to be submitted to NSF in early March, 2014.
