DARPA Funds Research in Polarimetric Signal Processing

Dr. Thomas Pratt, a Research Associate Professor in Notre Dame’s Department of Electrical Engineering, received $500K of funding for a DARPA contract to develop and demonstrate interference suppression techniques that exploit polarization properties of signals in challenging terrestrial environments. The work, which is being conducted jointly with Georgia Tech Research Institute, will involve the development of signal processing algorithms and their implementation in a laboratory testbed with baseband signal generators, baseband channel emulators, and dual-polarized receivers.  The goal of the work is to demonstrate the ability to successfully demodulate signals impaired by co-channel interference.
