Laneman Tapped by Wireless Innovator Qualcomm

TIFFANIE SAMMONS

Congratulations to Professor J. Nicholas Laneman for receiving a 2019 Qualcomm Faculty Award. The goal of the Qualcomm Faculty Award (QFA) program is to advance wireless communications research in academia and to strengthen Qualcomm’s engagement with faculty who are playing a key role in the company’s recruiting of top graduate students.

“Qualcomm is one of the leading innovators in wireless and mobile computing technologies, and so many of our Ph.D. graduates have gone on to work there,” Laneman notes. “I am extremely grateful for this award, which we will use to provide even better training and experiences for our graduate students.”

Dr. Laneman is Founding Director and currently Co-Director of the Wireless Institute in the College of Engineering, a Professor of Electrical Engineering, and a Fellow of the John J. Reilly Center for Science, Technology, and Values at the University of Notre Dame. He was recently appointed Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in Electrical Engineering, effective August 1, 2019.
