South Bend, Notre Dame don't win 5G grant but will try again

The City of South Bend and the University of Notre Dame have failed to win up to $20 million to test the next generation of wireless technology next year, but they vowed to try again.

Notre Dame Faculty Named among the Top One Percent of Highly Cited Researchers

Two University of Notre Dame researchers – Martin Haenggi and Prashant V. Kamat – have been named to Clarivate Analytics’ 2017 Highly Cited Researchers list. Clarivate’s list identifies the scholars who published the most articles that are in the top one percent of the most-cited articles. It includes about 3,500 researchers world-wide, categorized into more than 20 different science disciplines.

Wireless Institute hosts Fall 2017 BWAC Meeting

The Wireless Institute hosted a successful Fall 2017 BWAC Meeting. The Broadband Wireless Access and Applications Center (BWAC) is a multi-university research and development center connecting the wireless industry and government agencies with faculty and students from the University of Arizona (Lead), the Catholic University of America, University of Mississippi, University of Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.

This tutorial style seminar will give a brief introduction of the key technologies and features of the 3GPP 5G NR specifications, particularly focusing on the physical layer aspects of the proposed standard. After a general description of the 5G NR access network and physical layer, the 5G NR physical channels and signals are introduced in detail as well as the associated physical layer procedures and measurements.
